VentureLoop advertises venture-funded startup jobs

VentureLoop has partnered with Widgetbox to advertise the jobs available at startups that have been funded by VentureLoop’s venture capital clients.

VentureLoop hosts career sites for venture capital firms. It will use Widgetbox (a widget maker that reaches 90 million people) to post job openings on Facebook, blogs and other social networks. Widgetbox’s Blidget and Blidget Pro tools let publishers and marketers convert feeds into custom branded widgets.

Jeremy McCarthy, VentureLoop’s chief executive, said the widgets will help maximize exposure for job listings at startups. Venture capital firm Hummer Winblad, one of VentureLoop’s clients, has already begun making the widget available on its blog and Facebook pages.

Ann Winblad, co-founder of Hummer Winblad, said the widgets are an innovative way to promote job opportunities at the firm’s portfolio companies, in part because the social networks are where the top job candidates spend a lot of their time. Bloggers can download individual venture firm job widgets from the VentureLoop web site.

VentureLoop gets about 100,000 unique monthly visitors for its job postings, and it counts 30 venture capital firms as its clients. It also publishers the weekly VentureLoop Emerging Growth Newsletter, which focuses on news for emerging companies. It provides its VentureCareers service to VCs.

Rivals include StartUpHire, which we’ve written about before. VentureLoop has seven employees and was founded as HireLoop in 2001. It rebranded as VentureLoop in 2007 to expand beyond recruiting. The company is based in San Francisco and is self-funded.
