Aragon buys software code analysis co. Krugle
Aragon Consulting Group announced its acquisition of San Mateo, Calif.-based Krugle, a provider of code analysis and maintenance technology. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Krugle had been shopping for a buyer for a while, needing funds to continue marketing its first product — Krugle Enterprise, a searchable source code library — released 10 months ago. Aragon, which specializes in outsourcing software development for companies, says it will continue to offer Krugle as its own product.
Krugle started off as a publicly available online code search engine, still located at Krugle.org (which will not be disrupted by the deal). The company built its enterprise search tools on this foundation.
In the past, Krugle raised $7.3 million over two investment rounds from Emergence Capital Partners, First Round Capital, Omidyar Network and Rustic Canyon Ventures. These backers will still have a small stake in the company, and Aragon — also headquartered in San Mateo — says it is taking on six of Krugle’s full-time employees, with several others retained as part-time employees or consultants.
