South49 nabs $1.2M for remote workforce management

South49 Solutions, provider of web-based applications that let field employees schedule projects and submit status updates online or by mobile phone, just brought in $1.2 million in first-round financing from Originate Ventures and several angel investors. The Sterling, Va.-based company says it plans to use the new money to expand into new markets.

Its top product, called NaturalInsight, aggregates worker status updates and project data to give managers snapshots of what their employees are engaged in and how much they are getting done. Last year, the platform was used to manage more than 1 million tasks by 27,000 individuals. The company has seen consistent revenue growth of 70 percent each year for the past several years, and says it hopes the capital infusion with increase this rate.
