InnerRewards raises $1M for online wellness community

InnerRewards, a site that combines editorial content, user reviews and social networking around the broad concept of “wellness,” has raised a $1 million angel round from undisclosed investors. The site also just launched its public beta test.

Chief executive Julie Elaine Brown says the San Francisco company is the first to combine all these features across the full spectrum of spas, yoga instructors, alternative medicine practitioners and more. Although these services may seem like luxuries that could be cut from budgets in the current economy, Brown says many people see them as priorities that are essential to their health.

Brown previously headed new media efforts at Johnson & Johnson.
