ECHOAge nabs funds for enviro-friendly birthday gifts
ECHOAge, a website that allows birthday party attendees to donate to conservationist causes instead of bringing gifts, brought in an undisclosed amount of funding from individual investors Howard Lindzon of Lindzon Capital Partners, and Mark Goodman of Goodman Family Holdings.
It’s an innovative concept targeted at parents of young children. When you choose the site’s option “ECHOAge my party now,” you are told that “you and your child are about to embark on a very meaningful journey of giving,” and that you only need to “follow these steps to inspire great change.” Not only will the site help you choose which environmental cause you and your child want to support, but it also designs an email invite and sends it out to your guests — who can then choose to make a donation on the birthday boy or girl’s behalf.
It’s a noble concept, but the success of the company may still depend on how much little Timmy would rather save the watersheds than get a new Wii game.
