Greenline Industries receives $20M investment for biodiesel production

Among the many arguments against large-scale biodiesel production, one is that the process of making it takes a lot of water, which can be bad for the environment. Greenline Industries says its process works without using water.

The company’s patented process uses a resin to purify biodiesel. It has already sold some 30 biodiesel production lines with a yearly capacity of 200 million gallons, according to its press release.

The $20 million funding was provided by Leaf Clean Energy, a cleantech investment fund publicly traded on the London AIM. Greenline is based in San Francisco, Calif.; this is its first institutional investment.
