Music Intelligence Solutions raises $7M for music creation and discovery
Music Intelligence Solutions is a company focused on analyzing music from two angles — helping consumers discover new songs that they like, and helping professionals create new music that will succeed.
Specifically, MIS offers two software solutions. Music Intelligence Universe, the first, is a consumer-facing product aimed at helping people find new music, based on melody, mood and other factors.
The second, Hit Song Science, is aimed at artists and record labels who want help determining whether they have a hit song on their hands. We can only hope it fails, lest we have endless future iterations of Britney Spears on our hands. Orange Wireless, a European carrier, already has plans to offer the service in Spain.
The company didn’t disclose who its investors are, although CEO David Meredith stated in the release that the company is backed by “an experienced group of angel investors who also manage professional hedge funds in excess of $6 billion.”
