DisplayLink, raises $24M for chips to connect displays via USB

DisplayLink, a Palo Alto, Calif. company that makes chips to allow connections between computers and other visual display devices using USB, has raised $24 million in a third round of financing.

The funding comes from DAG Ventures, and included investors Atlas Venture, Balderton Capital and DFJ Esprit.The company has raised a total of $51 million of capital.

DisplayLink develops semiconductor and software to connect devices like monitors, PCs, projectors and other accessories.
Customers include I-O Data, IOGEAR, Kensington Technology Group, LG, Ratoc, Samsung and Toshiba.

The four-year-old company was originally named Newnham Research, and employs most of its 65 workers in Cambridge, U.K.
