Jentro raises $29M for GPS mobile software, mostly from NEA
Munich, Germany’s Jentro Technologies, a GPS-based mobile software and services company, said it has raised $29 million in a first round of capital.
Most of that came from New Enterprise Associates, the Silicon Valley firm, which invested $28 million. The investment is the firm’s first foray into Germany. Catalyst Venture Partners, and earlier investor, provided the remaining $1 million.
The technology is designed to give users of Java-enabled mobile devices location-based and navigation services from their phones, including voice guided 3D mobile navigation.

Jentro has now raised a total of $35 million since 2003.
