Open source system management software Hyperic raises $6.1M
Hyperic, a San Francisco company that offers an open source system management software, said it has raised $6.1 million in a second round of venture capital funding.
Benchmark Capital led the round, which included Accel Partners. Hyperic raised an initial $3.8 million in May 2006 from the same two investors.
The company, founded in 2004, has more than 25 employees. It says it has more than 300 customers —including eHarmony, Ask.com, Hi5, Ogilvy and Mather, and MyNewPlace.com.
According to IDC, open-source software will become a $5.8 billion industry by 2011, up from $1.8 billion in 2006.
