InsideView raises $7.4M for online sales intelligence software

InsideView, a San Bruno, Calif. company that offers online sales intelligence software, said it has raised $7.4 million in a first round of funding.

Emergence Capital Partners led the round, and existing (seed-round) investors Greenhouse Capital Partners and Rembrandt Venture Partners participated.

InsideView helps a sales person by drawing information from multiple data sources – Hoover’s, Indeed, LinkedI and others — to help them make a sale.

Here’s an example of how it works: A sales guy using InsideView trying to close a deal on a particular company would use it to find out in one place, immediately, that 1) a new CFO just came into a particular company he’s scouting, that 2) the new CFO is connected in some way to two or three board members of that company, 3) that the company is looking for engineers in a particular department 4) and that they presently have a requirement for a particular technology.

Its customers include SuccessFactors, Arravo, Cornell International, WebEx and Global Knowledge, the company said.

Separately, private equity firm Blackstone acquired Alliance Data, another company that helps generate sales leads, a couple of weeks ago.
