Sonopia, the private mobile phone network provider, raises $12.7M more
Sonopia, the company that lets anyone create their own mobile phone network, has raised $12.7 million more in a second round of funding, led by Cardinal Venture Capital.
We wrote about the Menlo Park, Calif company here, which it publicly launched its service last month. While it lets anyone create their own network, it has focused on building networks through trusted groups with loyal members. The National Wildlife Federation and the National Parks Conservation Association, for example, now have their own networks through Sonopia.
Previous investors Sevin Rosen Funds, ComVentures and some individuals also invested in this round. It has raised a total of $21.5 million.
The company did not immediately respond yesterday to a request for information about how much traction it’s had over the past month, since launching its program.
