Ecrio, a provider of real-time communications software for mobile, raises $14.5M
Ecrio, a Cupertino, Ca. provider of real-time communications software for mobile phones, has raised $14.5 million of a planned $25 million round, according to a regulatory filing first reported by PE Wire.
Ecrio specializes in things like picture messaging, mobile TV, push to talk, VoIP, audio, video streaming, presence and availability — all of which are either already incorporated into or being planned for the latest generation of Internet-connected phones.
NTT DoCoMo led the round (see statement), and was joined by Visa (see statement), Aplix Corp., a publicly traded Japanese mobile software company, Nexit Ventures and CIR Ventures, according to reports by PE Wire and VentureWire. Previous investors include Diamond Capital Co., CDB Web Tech, and NetNet Ventures Fund. PE Wire says the round is part of the company’s third, while VentureWire says it is the second round. We haven’t confirmed which one it is yet.
